REDCON Asia Moves Its Inauguration to 2022 to Showcase Thailand as a Premier Resilient Country

BANGKOK, Thailand – VNU Asia Pacific is pleased to retain the partnerships with DDPM under the Ministry of Interior, Thailand, along with Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), Mekong Institute, KMUTT, and GVF for the launching of REDCON Asia (Resilience on Emergency & Disaster Conference) despite of its postponement to 2022.

REDCON Asia is a multi-stakeholder conference and exhibition that envisions to engage the private sector, governments, international agencies, NGOs, academia, and intergovernmental organizations on disaster resilience building. It aims to boost more public-private partnerships in the overall planning and action for disaster and emergency management in the region, and to create a stronger “hub” of actors working cohesively towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Sendai Framework 2030.

REDCON Asia moves its official inaugural dates to 7-9 December 2022:  with the pre-launching date set on the 22nd of July at the United Nations Conference Center, Bangkok. This has been agreed with the majority of the Advisory Board Members, confirmed speakers and partners, during a town hall meeting that was held on Sept 17. VNU believes that having a good number of in-person attendees will help us build trust in the market, thus, moving it to next year will allow us to optimize opportunities for networking, exchange and collaboration for all of our stakeholders.

It will be co-located with “SDG Unite 2022,” a multi-stakeholder forum bannered on the theme, “Accelerating Business Leadership on SDGs Promoting Net Zero and Circular Economy.” It aims to accelerate private sector engagement to advance policy, infrastructure, financing, and technology solutions to promote carbon neutrality and sustainable waste management.

“VNU is grateful for the continued support of our partners and speakers for REDCON Asia in 2022. As resilience building is a collaborative responsibility, we are certain that achieving the 2030 Agenda is definitely possible through cross-sectoral partnerships, and COVID has accelerated the need to redefine cooperation on multiple levels,” says Heiko M. Stutzinger, Managing Director of VNU Asia Pacific. “Organizing REDCON Asia and SDG Unite next year could not be more than timely and relevant as we, together, find the solutions to address the nexus of disease-disaster-climate change phenomena.”

REDCON Asia and SDG Unite 2022 envision to engage multi-stakeholders through monthly webinars, townhall meetings, newsletters, roundtable discussions, roadshows, youth-oriented activities, among others.
